Here it is, the launch of our capsule collection for the Aussie surfer babes down under!
What started as an idea, turned into an international, bi-coastal gone Hawaii and back again sea-faring wanderlust journey never to be forgotten.
From late night skypes to Australia and hand-painted vellum films from the Pacific Northwest.....to double americano photo-edits and moodboards from Brooklyn NY, we hopped a plane to Maui.
It was the perfect place to shoot the lookbook, as it was where we met in the water years ago.
We were able to magically capture our capsule collection and make a sweet little 8MM film to document the coast to coast adventure of a summer.

a huge thanks to the girls at Billabong AU, and to Kelsi V from Pandeia for letting us use her
jungle studio for our shoot, to a Miss Jamie Elizabeth Burden for modeling on the fly, to Maui shutterbug Ashley Camper for all the sweet sweet polaroids and B-roll footage, Hair&Makeup byChrissy Swink, and to the countless others who made this whole project a reality.... MAHALOS!

BWG

Ever admire other girl's perfectly stained pink lips and wonder HOW hey get it so perfectly "just bitten" looking? Jessa of Blades Natural Beauty spills the secrets to BWG Mag.. check out her advice below!

PRETTY IN PINK

January 9, 2013 - Fashion
Wearing her unofficial NYC uniform of all black, Jessa Blades of Blades Natural Beauty is a firm believer that lipstick can help spice up any outfit. Although the thought of pink lipstick can be intimidating, Jessa gives us some helpful tips on how to choose the right color and wear it with ease.
Pink is one of my favorite colors and can look good on pretty much anyone as long as you know how to wear it. Here are a few things to keep in mind: Worried about wearing hot pink during the day? Apply a swipe of the lipstick and top with a lip balm for a more mellowed out pink look. Don’t feel like wearing it on your lip? Swipe a bit of lipstick on to the apples of your cheeks and voila! Pink blush! I know it sounds simple but I cannot stress how important LIGHTING is when choosing a color. Test the color in natural light- that department store/inside light makes you look like you have Jaundice, which is not cute. Don’t be afraid to put the color and walk outside to see what you think.

On my last trip to Hawaii I had the pleasure of working on a Free People surf inspired fashion shoot styled by the lovely ladies at Bikini Bird who helped me put these cute looks together and added a little Hawaiian flair with silk lei and Hula skirts.

One of my favorite parts of this shoot was catching a few waves with local surfer girls Malia Murphy and Amber Mozo ( an aspiring photographer and amazing surfer!). I loved every piece Free People sent us and they were all perfect to surf in and cute enough to hang out in.

To read the interview we did and to score some of these bikinis for yourself see Free People's site here

Finally, it would not have been a shoot in Hawaii without the lovely Dallas Nagata White on Set.. more to come on that later...

How incredible are these photos? Just the right amount of feminine and the monotone pastels with the huge shark tooth that repeats in each shot.. Just perfect! My favorite Spring editorial so far!
